Storyteller

Getting Along (Solo Performance)

This program is primarily designed for elementary-aged children, teachers, and families. It consists of learning tales from Haiti and West Africa, but could be modified with different stories, given enough lead time. The goal is to introduce concepts of communication and self-image to enhance positive interactions. The program is an entertaining and fast-moving and memorable blend of stories, songs, rhythm, and music that will get the audience involved. (Best for Elementary aged kids and families).

A Tour of Africa in Story, Rhythm, and Song (Solo or Duo/Alafia)
Our longest-running program combines songs, rhythms, and stories from various parts of the continent of Africa. Sondra has had many African teachers over the years, including Abdoul Doumbia from Mali, and has traveled to South Africa on a storytelling trip, picking up and sharing stories with others. (K-Adult)

Getting Along II (Duo Performance with Helen Trencher/Alafia)
This more full-bodied version of the solo edition, includes a tandem story that involves the audience called The Stubborn Turnip, as well as others not listed above. (Best for elementary aged kids and families).

Stories of the Earth, Songs of Peace (Duo/Alafia)
This program combines stories focused on the environment with songs/dances from the repertoire of the Dances of Universal Peace, and others. (5th grade to adult)

Music

Musical Memories

Sondra brings her ukulele to perform old standards, songs that span decades, and just plain fun to assisted living, nursing homes, libraries, parties, and events. Multi-generational songs like Dream A Little Dream, All of Me, Til There Was You, Women Be Wise, and more. 45 minute programs to remember, sing along, and be entertained.

Percussion for Contemplation
Sondra is or has been (before Covid) a regular drummer for Boulder Dances of Universal Peace, Judaism Your Way Shabbats, Kirtans, and other gatherings where a sense of inclusion and contemplation is desired. Her intuitive sense of what percussion is needed to enhance the mood, is real and appreciated. Her goal is not to distract, but to deepen the gathering.

Drum Circle Facilitation

As part of her story programs, as well as stand-alone, Sondra can facilitate a group of drummers by orchestrating the gathering.

Percussion, Vocals, U-Bass and Ukulele for Rock/Blues

Sondra plays regularly with the band Kones 52, singing and playing. And is available for events as a duo, as well. She and her husband have also released an album in 2023, available for streaming under the name Kones 52. On Spotify here.
